CNC machining refers to computer numerical control machining, originally invented in the 1940's when machine tools were automated using punched cards. More recently, CNC systems use highly automated computer aided design programs to operate machines for part production.
The programs produce a computer file that is interpreted using a post processor and then loaded into the CNC machines.
